Color Bleeding control with VRayOverrideMtl 溢色控制

V-Ray is a ray-tracing renderer that supports global illumination (GI) and indirect lighting. One common side effect of GI is color bleeding, where the color of one surface is indirectly reflected onto nearby surfaces. In most cases, color bleeding helps create more realistic and natural-looking lighting. However, in this outdoor terrain scene, the color bleeding highlighted in the circle appears unnatural and gives the surface an unwanted subsurface scattering (SSS)-like appearance. In this article, we’ll show you a quick and simple way to reduce or eliminate this unwanted color bleeding.

The solution is to use VRayOverrideMtl. Keep your original terrain material in the Base material slot, then add a separate VRayMtl to the GI material slot. This allows you to control how the material contributes to indirect illumination without changing its appearance in the final render.
