Simulating a water is not a easy task. Neither rendering for water. Since water is a transparent material in the same time reflect its environment, it is not easy to render a clean and beautiful water rendering.
Basic Setup
I put two simple planes as reflector (or area light), apply material as below:

Reflect on back side (show more details but too noisy):
Depth of field (through AfterEffects + Frischluft plugin):

I think the most important is Don't just reflect/refract whole scene :)
